Below Are A Few Details On The Courses In 2009: Chickasaw Point GC- Located on a hilltop in Kingston, OK., surrounded by lake Texhoma the Point is a wide open full throttle golf course. Big fairways and greens give players opportunities to score but with it's length can be deceiving, especially if the wind is blowing at all. Forrest Ridge GC- Trees! Need we say more! Tunnel fairways, large undulating greens and deep bunkers would offer a stiff challenge to most PGA players. Good luck. Emerald Falls GC- I think we all know about this one from last year. Long is the only way to describe this course. A stretch run of hole 5 through 8 offer players Par 4's ranging in length from 460 yards to 510 yards and if the wind is blowing just hunker down and take it. Cherry Springs GC- One of the longest Par 5's known to man greets players on the backside just as they think everything is going fine then boom you go from a three over Par round to six over. Wolf Ridge GC- Smack dab on top of a Wolf Mountain West of Poteau, OK. Wolf Ridge has some of the nicest greens of all the tournament locations. Fairly narrow with moderate trees it offer players a fairly stiff test of their golfing skills. Jimmy Austin GC- This course is my personal favorite. A muny course that is extremely well maintained. The staff do a great on course management and can really slick the greens that time of year and if pin locations are where they were last year look out. Doesn't play as long as the card and no too difficult through the fairway, but the greens are another story all together. Arrowhead GC- This is a nice state owned golf course. Just right and after the first part of the schedule a nice reprieve. Arrowhead will let you know you can still play decent golf especially coming from the above mentioned courses. Cherokee Hills GC- Brute. That's a good way to describe this Perry Maxwell design and keeping with a Maxwell design severely undulated greens. Heavy Bermuda rough welcomes errant tee shots so two rules will apply when playing this course, find the fairway and find the right level on the green. Silverhorn GC- This is a tricky little devil. Very deceptive approach shots but overall not to difficult. Heritage Hills GC- This is a shot placement course. Course knowledge is a plus by knowing which side of the fairway to place the ball for the approach. The Golf Club at Surrey Hills- Fairways lined with houses and target greens. Not long, but stout boasting a 660 yard Par 5. Nice course. Silverado GC- OUT OF BOUNDS! I don't know if I'll ever forget some of the shots I saw on the first tee in 2008 including mine. Just about every hole has out of bounds on both sides of the fairway. Really nice course. The Old Course at Page Belcher GC- Fun, fun, fun. A course you can score on. In 2008 Ron Morrison and Casey Davis fought three extra holes to decide a winner and both shot career rounds. Peoria Ridge GC- A Hooter's tour stop and site of this year's Tour Championship, Peoria Ridge sets up well for low scores and super competitive events just ask Keith Coleman, he posted a career best one over par and lost in a playoff to good friend Chris Harlin on the par 5 10th. |
