There Are Those That Talk About It & There Are Those That Do It.
Which One Are You?
Canadian, OK.- Hello Championship Flight. In a never
before seen accomplishment and ridiculous amount of
low scores in one and a half seasons, the famous
Arrowhead allowed players to shoot career rounds and
maybe the most people in a playoff ever seen in the
three hundred year history of golf. The Championship
Flight had only three players tied at the end of
regulation, but took three holes to decide a winner.
Eugene Hancock captured his second career win and
first this season by edging out Muskogee's Jordan
Whitford and Kansas' Mark Baker with all three players
still tied going to the second playoff hole Hancock's tee
shot on the tough up hill 180 yard par 3 11th landed
hole high and looked to be the shot to seal the deal.
Both Whitford and Baker left their tee shots woefully
short, but Baker got up and down for par to match
Hancock's two putt par and left Whitford licking his
wounds after another playoff. By the way, Whitford is
now 0-3 in playoffs! Alright, now on to the Contender
Flight. It's going to take all day and maybe a week to
figure this one out. Nine players were tied at the end of
regulation Saturday, that's right NINE! These nine
players believe it or not decided the winner on the
easiest hole on the course with a birdie. Tahlequah's
John Easter was the only player of the nine to card a
birdie that left eight players tied for second. A very
unusual day of golf indeed and very complicated. I think
what we've figured out if anything is the HCP system in
place works. It may not look like it, but when that many
players can do what they did it works. By the way, I
hope everyone got to see my tee shot on #1!
